We believe in "Regenerative Tourism"
We don't believe that running a profitable business and respecting the land, community, and people are mutually exclusive. Our goal in creating Outlier was to bring awareness to the operators of local inns, BNBs, short term rentals, hotels, etc. that there are innovative ways to integrate amazing local experiences and support of the community and also provide an excellent guest experience. Visitors should not just take from the communities they visit - we believe it's important to give back, support, and continue to carry on respect for the community they have enjoyed.
What that Means for Hawai'i
We are currently working with properties and local vendors on Oahu and Big Island. We live here and have seen first hand the occasions of poor treatment and ignorance from visitors - this needs to change.
Help us make a positive, lasting impression on visitors and make them ambassadors for Hawaii's culture, community, and history.
Supporting Local
We are working to incorporate local products, services, and experiences into our offerings so that every visitor to our properties will be giving back to the community in which they are staying. We want to make local products and services accessible, simple, and meaningful to our guests.
Extending Support BEYOND The Visit - Turning Tourists into Lifelong Ambassadors
We believe that tourists - if approached correctly - can be the best stewards of protecting and respecting Hawai'i beyond the extend of these little islands. We want to encourage people to return to their homes and to spread aloha - speak of the artisans they've supported; the local experiences they cherished; or the amazing cuisine they experienced. Whatever it is - we believe that changing the way that traditional tourism has operated is essential.
